I’m a Depression historian. The GOP tax bill is straight out of 1929.

" And the great owners, who must lose their land in an upheaval, the great owners with access to history,
with eyes to read history and to know the great fact: when property accumulates in too few hands it is
taken away. And that companion fact: when a majority of the people are hungry and cold they will take
by force what they need. And the little screaming fact that sounds through all history: repression works
only to strengthen and knit the repressed. The great owners ignored the three cries of history. The land
fell into fewer hands, the number of the dispossessed increased, and every effort of the great owners
was directed at repression. The money was spent for arms, for gas to protect the great holdings, and
spies were sent to catch the murmuring of revolt so that it might be stamped out. The changing
economy was ignored, plans for the change ignored; and only means to destroy revolt were considered,
while the causes of revolt went on. "

It's history that is going to repeat itself. Nobody learns from the past.

The tax bill isn't even finished yet and you have it dead and buried! It has yet to go through (probably as we speak right now) what the Senate calls the "v**e-a-rama" stage. A v**e-a-rama is the lawmaking process during which 15 or more v**es take place on a piece of legislation in a single day. Once the allotted time for debate on a bill expires, any senator may put forward any number of amendments to that piece of legislation. They then v**e on the amendments, marathon-style. A v**e-a-rama can go on for hours. The legislative package then goes forward into Debate Land. More last-minute changes could be made on the Senate floor during the v**e-a-rama, potentially presenting some tough v**es for lawmakers on both sides of the aisle and possibly altering the substance of the final plan passed by the chamber. All this is happening right now, so for anyone to say this bill will do "this" or it will do "that" is just pure BS.

It's finished. And so is the poor & middle class.

"With barely a v**e to spare early Saturday morning, the Senate passed a tax bill confirming
that the Republican leaders’ primary goal is to enrich the country’s elite at the expense of
everybody else, including future generations who will end up bearing the cost. The approval
of this l**ting of the public purse by corporations and the wealthy makes it a near certainty
that President Trump will sign this or a similar bill into law in the coming days.

The bill is expected to add more than $1.4 trillion to the federal deficit over the next decade,
a debt that will be paid by the poor and middle class in future tax increases and spending cuts
to Medicare, Social Security and other government programs. Its modest tax cuts for the middle
class disappear after eight years. And up to 13 million people stand to lose their health insurance
because the bill makes a big change to the Affordable Care Act.

Yet Republicans somehow found a way to give a giant and permanent tax cut to corporations like
Apple, General Electric and Goldman Sachs, saving those businesses tens of billions of dollars.

This is such a fiasco, senators even admitted that they had to pass a bill or those who donate to them were going to cut off the big bucks. Lobbyists wrote the thing. Unbelievable the things that got in this to bring certain senators along to v**e for it. Typical R disaster, they mess the economy up and Dems have to straighten it out. They own this baby now.

Still good reading, isn’t it, and the posters here don’t read, of course, so they get to live it when conditions get sufficiently bad.

And they will....

There are two bills, the Senate (of which we have no idea of what it contains) and the House, which no longer counts (the Leaders will claim there’s only time for the House to adopt the Senate bill, in Toto, and there you have it).

Doesn’t matter which or what! What matters is our Democracy no longer exists, and we live in a plutocracy now, and your piddlin’ money don’t count.

How can any tax reduction plan -take 100% of all the wealthy's net income" help the poor. They pay 0 income tax. Any reduction can't get them to pay less. With regard to the Mational Debt. This tax plan will add 3% to that debt in the next 10 years.

New way to drive, backward at 90mph down a dead end street with a wall at the end. Next stop 1928. FDR and the Depression all f**e history, that is what is Trump is saying. Back to the Golden Years of the 1920s when the GOP run things or did not run things. To hell with middle class, more tax for them and less tax for the rich and corporate American. Poor people out of sight out of mind.

You obviously don’t understand the bill and what it will do.

Leon Panetta surmises that the USA is in decline.

After the t*****rous Richard Nixon, repeated failures at four optional wars, George W. Bush lying the Nation to War, then Donald Trump selling out the Nation to Russia and hoping for another war in Iran or North Korea, and The Republican selling out what’s left to Big Money, can anyone doubt it?

We’ve been had folks, and we watched it happen.

These jackals know that if the get booted from office, their tax increases will kick in while the dems are in power again.

They will then cry; "See, the democrats are raising your taxes!" and the fox news minions will nod their short attention span heads in agreement.
