San Xavier del Bac mission (The White Dove of the desert) taken at sunset sometime in 1991. Scanned from Kodachrome 25 slide. Settings not recorded.

Interesting light color. Just at sunset based on the shadows direction and angle. I think I would tilt the camera up a bit to eliminate the white stones at the base. It is nice to see it without all the repair scaffolding.

That's a lovely shot. The details really come out in the download. I've tried to obtain a similar image but can never quite get the colouring you did. Mine always come out more yellowish. Yours is truly nice. Of course that was in '91. Now one cannot get an image without people. Or at least it's hard.

Lovely architecture and light. It looks a bit tilted to the left, except when I look at just the far left-that looks straight. So it could just be my eyes!

The San Xavier del Bac mission has an amazing history... That being the oldest intact European structure in Arizona... Time travel for sure...

Love the color harmonies latent within... beautifully done... Classic Kodachrome 25 at it's best... Fantastic tonal range, but then again that's Kodachrome 25 for you... Appears to be captured with excellent optics... and your verticals are spot on... nary a trace of barrel or pincushion...

What might be done to improve? Return and take a series at sunset and use an HDR application to merge...
That's is what the commercial architectural shooters I assist do... heavy tripods, mirror lockup and bracket the living daylight out of the scene... lol Which is likely what you did with the initial capture... I always shot at least three exposure values with KD-25 (one over, spot on, and one under)

Today life is good... in camera histograms will get you there every time...

thank you for sharing mcveed...
I wish you well on your journey...

I always bracketed with slide film too. This was taken with a Nikon N8008 and a 50mm lens, on a study manfrotto tripod from the parking lot. The camera was perfectly level to avoid distortion which in 1991 I had no idea how to fix. We visited this area in 2004 and there were lots of people around that we didn't remember. This was taken in the summer and I waited for the sun to hit the horizon which was quite late in the evening. I shot a full roll of 36 which meant 12 bracketed shots and the colour just kept getting better. I think this one was shot after the sun was below the horizon.
I wish you well on your journey...
