The start of a quest

This image is a crop from a 24mm. We were at Eagle Nest Lake in New Mexico when it was taken. On return home and processing it I like how it looked cropped to this ratio but not how it could only stand so much enlargement with out falling apart. This then is what started a learning process that is on going. Because of family situations we haven't been able to get back on the road but I have taken literally hundreds of experimental/practice shots to understand different techniques. Most importantly image stitching.

Rich: This looks like a horizontal pan. Did you encounter difficulties specific to the 24mm lens?

LoneRangeFinder, it is a horizontal pan. what I wasn't happy with is, to really get the look, or feel, that I want when printing it wide the image falls apart. As I have learned since, had I used a 50mm or even 85mm in portrait position and stitched 5 or 10 or more images the results will be much better. I will get back there to retake this but that lonesome little white cloud that didn't cry probably wont be there.

I really like the structure of the image and the grayscale conversion. Work on the haloing along the ridge line, probably left over from processing before the B&W conversion.

After thinking a bit I decided to rework that image. Most of the changes are subtle, some not so much
