Actually, Chris, I only had one SLR, a Canon AE-1. I bought it when they first came out and stayed with it, through many various lens', until it was obvious Digitals were the future. I now own only bridge cameras, due to my age and health, but any of them, my SX60, B700, P900 have it all over the SLR's of the AE-1 ilk, in my humble opinion. Understand this is my experience only, and I obviously was never "steeped" in SLR's to the extent many of our members were.

My favorite SLR was the Nikon FM3a by a nose over my Nikon F4. My favorite DSLR is a Nikon Df, although my D850 just arrived yesterday. The Df looks and handles very much like the FM3a did.

Insman ... in many ways, you're probably right!!! .... Your SX-60 has a wide end of 21mm ... and a long end of 1365mm. And your P-900 has a wide of 24mm and extends out to 2000mm!!! ... And they both have 16mp sensors, to boot ... so, digitally, they both (all 3, actually) are head and shoulders above what the AE-1 could do. But, then - you get into the old argument that the AE-1 was a full-fledged semi-auto SLR - capable of allowing 20x24 blowups, even 30x40, in a pinch ... something none of your bridges is capable of attaining. The best you can do with ANY of them is an 11x14 ... and that would be pushing some. Those sensors are just 1/2.3" ... which is a 6x crop ... compared to a FF 35mm, like the AE-1 ... but, you are right ... FF DSLRS are monsters, compared to the size of micro-sensor bridges. But, now ... that P-900 is fairly heavy!

I endorse r.grosner's sentiments, shooting Kodachrome 25, a great film.

As for an SLR, as to be the Pentax S1a well build and I am still using it
alongside my Leica's.

As for a favourite DSLR, specification wise it has to be the Olympus OMD EM1 Mark II.

Do you like your EM1 II better than all your Leicas, tho', LF?

Pentax LX and my old buddy the Rollei 3000 SL, I really liked the interchangeable fimbacks, I also enjoy my Pentax 645n II,as well as the Canon EOS 1v. Love my MF Fuji! Of course I enjoy my digital cameras too! How do they compare?, they don't, some shoot film, the "digis" don't!

They do compare, S .... even though SLRs used film, and digitals don't .... there are as many similarities, as dissimilarities. For comparisons already made in this thread ... read all the comments ... many folks have already made comparisons ....

BTW, S, congrats on your purchase of the Fuji GFX 50S .... how does that compare with your Pentax 645n II?

Really, Bull?

I had an A-1 ...

Of the two Sony dig cams you have - which is your fave?

Nikon F Photomic. Great camera. Big, heavy, and mechanical. I sold it on ebay, and it went to Dublin, Ireland. Now, the D750 is my favorite.

Yes, it was, Jerry ... I had two as well, and an F3 ... mine all wound up in London ... what a coincidence, hey?

Would you like to do a comparison between the old Nikon F and the new Nikon D750? ... point out the good and bad points of each, so-to-speak.

My first as well! Now an Olympus E M-1 Ii and Pen F. Which was better? For convenience and shooting at high ISO's, the Oly's are hard to beat.

Minolta Dynax 9 ! Big solid and utterly dependable; I still have it, together with the Dynax 7; both superb cameras. Today ? Well quite a variation-
Fuji X-Pro 2 with an 18mm F2; Nikon D3 with a 300mm F4 AF-S. And for BIF , Canon 1D 2 and 400MM F5.6L. Two completely different systems, horses for courses.

Two, huh, Jery?

Sounds to me like you're juggling THREE dig cam systems .... and with the two Minoltas ... that'd be 5 ....

Which is your fave dig cam, Jery?

Like to point out the pros and cons vs. your old Minoltas?

That's wonderful, f4 .... that you managed to find a dig cam ... which handles much like your most fave SLR ... isn't the world great?

And, now ... with the D850 ... you're in for a whole new learning experience, huh?

Well, Phlash ... it's a given ANY current dig cam could better any prior SLR ... but, aside from that ... like to weigh the pros and cons?

For the Nikon F - better DOF control; but, of course, a FF digital can do that. More care since you couldn't see your shot for 2 weeks or more. That's about it.

In every other way I prefer the current set I have.
