After a year of observing UHH, I'm somewhat addicted to checking the UHH posts every morning. It re-stimulates my interest in photography and gives me new insights as to the pulse of the leading edge of the modern photography world. I feel as though I'm privy to the wisdom gained from literally thousands of years of experience gained by UHH members; so, thank you all for sharing, I'm sure it helps others as much or more as it has helped me. Here are a few of the gems I've appreciated:
1) Using photo-stitching for interiors or landscapes can make a DSLR image look like a view camera image. The magic of an 8x10 view camera is that it can make a wide angle shot have the same compression effect as a telephoto on a smaller format camera.
2) Photo stacking can make everything from close to far in focus. (Tiny aperture and super wide no longer necessary for this effect!) Is it far-fetched to believe that soon the camera will combine all 300+ stacked images IN-CAMERA, so we don't have to do it in post??
3)HDR management gives a range of lighting only dreamed about before. Management by different programs gives awesome results.
4) Something I've wondered about is the possibility of a high-tech tripod head that would electronically pan according to the settings of the lens and stitching parameters. Any UHH geniuses have insight on this?

4) Already done. Search gigapan, need specialized software.
3) No need for crappy software, use raw correctly
2) Stacking captures for dof is a feature for the Nikon D850, you need software to finish it.

Syrp Mini Genie or Genie:
https://syrp.co.nz/products/genie-miniControlled by Bluetooth interface w/ smart phone, allows you to build panoramas, time lapses, etc once you input your lens focal length and orientation.

4) How about this panning head from B&H. It can do 360°.

I always get a laugh when Frank Doorhof (Netherlands Photographer) refers to HDR not as High Dynamic range, instead, Highly Destructive Retouching.
Thanks for the replies and info., confirms my faith in UHHers! One thing I forgot to bring up, but think I saw on here recently is: since the image from a lens which hits the sensor is a circle, then some sensors probably will probably one day be square so there will be no need to tip the camera on its side to take vertical photos, just select "v" and in the viewfinder, you'll see the vertical image.

Anything to take the photography out of photography!
@Leitz - or to facilitate it!
Great post
I would add time lapse and cinomograph in there with hdr and photo stitching as my foundation
I wish 3d was better but it is just not there yet.
