Remember a few weeks ago, someone posted that David Pogue was going to reveal something dramatic in the world of cameras? Well, I might have found it. He's gushing about the Sony RX100. http://www.nytimes.com/2012/06/28/technology/personaltech/a-pocket-camera-even-pro-photographers-can-love-state-of-the-art.html?_r=1

You can't blame him for boasting about a Sony. I have read several other glowing reviews of the Sony RX100.

"1-inch sensor". What does that mean? 1-inch corner-to-corner? Surely not 1-inch on a side.

A standard Sony APS-C sensor (used in several Nikon camera models) is 23.6-mm x 15.8-mm. 1-inch = 25.4-mm

Maybe like a TV or monitor, diagonally.

I wonder how well this Saumsung with a f/1.4 aperture and a 1/1.7-inch sensor will compete http://gizmodo.com/5923181/samsungs-ex2f-compact-camera-has-an-impossibly-wide-aperture

Samsung has been turning out some excellent products - TVs, cell phones, tablets. That's a large, competent company.

Those are becoming very rare. Combining a small camera with a large LCD doesn't leave a lot of room.
