And the OP has zero credibility and zero relevance until he tells us what B&H said when he called - which he should have done before posting. Without that information, this thread is pointless.
Why? Because you said so? You folks are sick.

Look, the OP has no obligation to handle the situation the way you and some of these other posters might elect. You folks are not his father (I assume). He can handle it any damn way he pleases and that doesn’t give you sanctimonious bastards the right to tell him what he should have done.
Right! We can be as irresponsible as we want even when disparaging somebody reputable!
And the people on this forum have no obligation to support him, and every right to respond when they feel a company they have always had good experiences with is unfairly criticized.

No, that is how responsible people act.

And I guess you would know.

And do you think the OP acted responsibly?

Why don’t you tell me how he acted “irresponsibly” and further elaborate on how you get to make that judgement call.

The OP comes to this forum, severely criticizes a company a large number of people here have had very good service from and are constantly recommending. He either hasn't tried to contact their customer service to try and resolve it, or he neglects to tell us what their side of the story was if he did contact them. The company's representative who is active here offers to look into the matter, but we hear nothing further from the OP. That's troll behavior in my opinion. And yet you seem to think that members here who call him out on it are acting irresponsible.
Remember Hirsch Photo in New York? I bought a Nikon FM from them in 1981. It didn't work. I returned it immediately and said I wanted a full refund to be applied against another camera. They would only give a partial refund. When they went out of business, I smiled.

OK. I'm still waiting on you to tell me how the OP is "irresponsible". All you have done is recite the OP's actions then pass judgement.

Because his action of complaining here first before talking to B&H is irresponsible. If he had talked to B&H first, then not reporting that conversation, not reporting B&H's reason for this action which is totally off-character for B&H, itself is irresponsible.
Maybe folks are beginning to doubt the completeness of the original post because: 1) it is contrarary to their experience and B&H’s reputation; and 2) the OP hasn’t followed up on his post despite the passage of time and numerous requests.

If his actions to you aren't irresponsible, but those of us who feel they were are irresponsible, I can't help you.
I have dealt with them for many years. When I bought a camera with a problem, they took it back immediately and gave me full credit. I have found B&H and Adorama to be gold standard. I read on some websites where people brag about buying 2 or 3 cameras and then only keeping their favorites. I think that there is a great deal of abuse of liberal return policies. In fact, my last camera purchase was a used Lumix GX8 in perfect condition. From the looks of it, it was barely used. I am going to purchase "used" cameras in the future.
