Tchaikovsky must have rolled over in grave...that is the saddest interpretation of his first concerto I have ever heard!

Yes in 1941 that sound was music to America's ears, but it did little to impress the Japs, later that year they bombed Pearl Harbor

I think I was born too late (1949). These songs were all "dance-able". When I was old enough to go to sock hops, the music changed and kids quit dancing with each other. And I'd already had two series of ballroom dance lessons. I felt jilted!

They're a thousand times better than any of the noise they call music today. People think "hip hop", and "RapCrap" are "music".

Not sure what you meant, but there were many bands in the 40's. To name a few, Artie Shaw, Les Brown, Chick Webb, Ray Anthony, Harry James, Tommy Dorsey, Charlie Barnet, Woody Herman, Billy May,
Jimmie Lunceford, Bennie Goodman, Kay Kyser, Stan Kenton, Count Basie, Duke Ellington.
