I copy my photos to my computer, using a card reader. I, then, copy the photos to an external drive plus a DVD read/write disc and store the DVD disc to an off-site location. I never edit my photos before I store them, so I can get back to the originals, if I need to edit them differently, in the future.

Hi!
Though I am a relative freshman photographer wannabe I am adept at computer hardware and accessories. As most people will tell you repeated use of mini usb, lightning cable and the like most always results in cable degeneration.I have yet to wear out flash, sd, micro sd inserting into computer or usb device. Cables are always a weak link. Phones, computers, cameras whatever. You are more likely to damage something using cable. Soooo I choose card reader.

I asked my computer and it said it wanted a card reader.
Actually, i found it was sometimes difficult to remove the card from the computer slot with my aging fingers.
remove cards and put them into the computer and also do not delete the pictures individually, format the memory card
If it something not important I remove the media card from the camera and load the images to the computer via a card reader.
If it is an important project I remove the card from the camera and using a EZ-Digimatic burn the images to a CD/DVD. The images are then downloaded from the disc to the coputer/external hard drive. The disc is then filed.
I actually save them in a hard disk and computer software then format my card, c ard to computer way.
