Not real?

So the psychiatrist at the VA says the low opacity people I am seeing are not the ghosts of the people I killed in Vietnam who have come looking for me and finally found me. They are hallucinations. So okay doc, if they aren't real, then why do they keep showing up? I guess no one told them they aren't real. And the licensed clinical social worker I see every week...when one of them showed up during our session and sat in the chair laughing at me and I told him to shut up and to get the fuck out of there...let's just say she is as blind and deaf as a bat. hell, she took my keys, cancelled her other sessions, and sat in the room with me until my wife came to drive me home. Where does the VA find these people at anyway?

Do you feel like the VA has any competent people?

Yes, I have received great care from the VA. I have been to 4 of the hospitals and several of the clinics. The nurses and MD's are great. The counselors on the hotline are amazing, and the social workers and groups over the past few years have really helped me get my life together. The specialty teams have helped my sleep, hearing, lower back, eyes, and feet problems. No other complaints except for a nurse in the ER who couldn't draw my blood after three attempts, another guy there got it first try. If I have a choice between a civilian hospital and the VA's, I'm heading to the VA.

I have been going to my local VA for more than 10 years. I can't remember being taken care of better at any private hospital. yes, sometimes you have to wait a bit for an appointment but my wait times are never that bad, and it's all free.
