Photo booth - without the booth.
Saw this for the first time yesterday playing in a charity golf tournament. About half way through, was asked if we would like to have photos of our group taken for the company that was sponsoring the tourney to which we agreed. I did not see any camera but what turned out to be a large ring light mounted on a tripod. No camera in sight. We were told we would have 3 images taken 5 seconds apart and to change poses between shots. The program counted down the seconds between shots. After we were done, she asked if we would like to have the images emailed to us. She tapped a screen, entered the addresses of those interested and sent them on their way. When we were finished I asked how she took the images. The "camera" was an ipad affixed to the back of the ring light. I know I am not up to date on a lot of the latest and greatest, but it was pretty amazing to see. Wondering if anyone has experienced or used a set up like this?
I would be interested in seeing what the final products look like.

They are actually quite common and have been around for a while now.
An iPhone does great photos but I have never got a good photo out of my iPad Pro, but I have never had it outside either. Maybe better light would make better pics.

A ring light leaves NO shadows. Ideal for what they were using. Please post picture that was emailed to you.
I had no interest in receiving the photos. Sorry about that. At first, I thought how wonderful the technology, then I wondered if photography would look more like this type of setup in the future. I think for it's intended purpose, it would be a fun think to have at almost any event, but saw no threat to the future for most of us. It was definitely customer friendly, pose, take photo, pass on your email or text info and in less than 3 minutes you walk away with photos on your phone if you want them. Interesting comment on pics from iphone vs ipad. Have not heard that before. Good stuff. Thanks all.
It looks a little silly to be walking around taking images with an iPad but we see it all the time here, on the Central CA Coast.
