i have been using nik as a stand alone on an old mac book pro running yosemite 10.10.5 . i export a photo from photos to desktop , click on it while holding
down control . "open with" comes up , and all the nik apps come up . i just click on the one i want to load the image . sometimes i have to continue to hold the control down to load. i mostly use silver efex for b&w and viveza for color . i am not very computer literate , so this might not be the quickest way . as i understand it , nik can't be used on a mac using an os beyond yosemite .

I have installed NIK collection as plugin to the latest version of Photoshop CC on my Mac using latest OSX. When i go to Filters and open one of the NIK plugins I can use it but when I click done Photoshop crashes and NIK adjustment is not saved into photoshop. I have installed, reinstalled a number of times including Photoshop CC. Any one else experiencing same issue? Up until now and for some years I have not had this problem.
quote=jamesl]The Nik software programs are plugins. They can be run as a stand-alone by dragging and dropping a file onto executable file for the program that you want to use. For example if I wanted to run "Color Efex Pro" I would drag-n-drop the picture onto "C:\Program Files\Google\Nik Collection\Color Efex Pro 4\Color Efex Pro 4.exe". This will open Color Efex Pro 4 with the picture loaded. To use Nik software as stand-alongs it is easier to create a shortcut for eack Nik program's executable file and put them in a folder on your desktop. That way they are much easier to get to when you want to use them.[/quote]
