I've been using an image processor independent organizer for years before LR, Elements, or Bridge was even published.

Yes it is, but so are other software out there that do the same thing. My point is in what the OP posted, what is the point as many other software on the market have their own cataloging facility. Is one better than the other? Are there any value to owning one above the rest? I have Elements 15, but really don't use it much and definitely don't use it's catalog facility.

Yes it does.
You can even choose to open PSE in the organiser or in edit. It has almost the same number of search options too. Don't think it can batch process though...(someone here asked about that, but didn't get an answer that I saw.....appologees if they did)

If you use a stand alone LR it will work with PSE to edit....been there done that.

As said, there are lots of catalogue programmes - often much easier to use too

I purchased PSE 15 and found its workflow cumbersome and slow, so I got Faststone a free software that is easy to work with and does just about what PSE does. And is FREE.
