I think final touches on a photo is like writing a song or a poem, they are never finished. There are just many different iterations. It's a very nice photo, has tons of "mood" to it.

I like it a lot, but the tree/log at the foreground seems very bright and captures my eye first. If you toned down the foreground, I think it would be even better.

Like this? It is a tree but a strange one its grown out horizontal and kicked round before deciding it wanted to go up, it's what attracted me initially, then i noticed the couple and shifted the attention from the tree in the foreground the leading lines of the trunk work well to lead you to them. I have no idea who they and i like i've kept them anonymous and the focal point of the scene.

Loved the first image, but agree that it was improved by the shading of the foreground tree. Beautifully composed and very emotional image.
