Hi
Using Nikon d3300 with great satisfaction. Can anyone tell me why my wmu wifi does not work with my Apple 6splus iPhone?
Thx

Wi-Fi seems to be not very user friendly. My printer isn't cooperating, and I've never tried setting up Wi-Fi on a camera. Below are lots of links, and I see ratings of 2 1/2 stars (out of 5).

I haven't tried on Nikon, at least not that I remember. On my Panasonic what initially confused me was that I could set it up to go through my WiFi network or use a direct WiFi connection to the camera.

Not sure why it wouldn’t work with the 6s. I am using the D5500 and the iPhone 7, I also use my iPad Mini 4, both of which I have no problems, either transferring files, or actuating the shutter.

Turn on WiFi on the camera, search for that network in settings on your iPhone, choose connect to your camera network (I named my camera network ‘D5500’), then start WMU. Should work...

A friend of mine, who knows a heck of a lot more about photography then I do, has been shooting with both Nikon and Canon for years. His latest Nikon is a D500 and his biggest complaint has been its wi-fi. Trying to connect to it with his IPhone has been frustrating. No problems with his 6D. I loaned him my 5DIV for a week, and after downloading the latest app he had no trouble with that either. He has nearly full control of the camera from his phone and can upload photos to the web, etc. I have read about 3rd party apps that seem to work well with Nikons but I have no idea what they are.

I have a D7100 and Apple IPhone 6s Plus and the WMU wireless only works if I put the phone in airplane mode and then turn WiFi on while it is airplane mode.

The Wi-Fi WMU from Nikon is not very user friendly and is difficult to make work correctly. I have used it on my Samsung Galaxy 4 phone but when I upgraded, I didn't install it on my newer phone. IT is designed NOT to work on Wi-Fi networks and will ONLY work camera to phone or camera direct to computer (laptop Wi-Fi (without router)) which is kind of a pain. I've reverted to removing my SD cards and putting them into my card reader or my sd slot on the laptop for reading. Then I put them back into the camera and reformat them. As for immediate transfer between camera and phone, I shoot exclusively Raw/Nef so anything shot would be undeveloped and not worthy of publishing on the phone anyway. If I am going to share (rarely unless paid) it will go on Facebook or my website AFTER processing.

Seems to me that you have to turn on the feature in the camera. Then, if you don't use it for some amount of time, it turns itself off. Personnally, I don't use it for that reason, in addition to low range and slow speed. No wonder I got this free with my D7100?🤓

Make sure the phone and camera are on. Cell.. Go to Settings, WIFI, click the camera. WMU ... Click the wheel in the upper right hand corner to see that that the camera is connected.
Make sure you Cell, iPhone and camera are all on.

Make sure you have it turned on in the camera and I believe there is a time of connection
setting that always needs to be adjusted to a longer time setting or you are constantly
trying to connect the camera and the phone. Once I figured that out it's worked
great for my 3200,3300 and now 5300.

I have the D7200 and when I had my iPhone 6+ I had to go into my phone and turn on airplane mode, go to the camera and enable wi-fi (and wait for the wi-fi signal to show up) then back to the phone and turn wi-fi on (and make sure it showed connected to the camera) then go to the wmu app and then I could view pics on the camera or use it to control the camera...roundabout way but it worked. Now with my iPhone 7+ I just have to go to settings and make sure the cameras wi-fi shows up and select that then I can go to the app, seems that it connects faster. It does disconnect itself if not used for few minutes!

I have IPhone 6 Plus and it works great. But sometimes I forget to go to settings and choose WMU for connection. Other than that I don’t know why it doesn’t work.
