We had a 'party' here at the Manor to celebrate Veteran's Day. Each Vet told about their time in the service. Coffee and donuts were served. We sang patriotic songs and posed for pictures with Old Glory. I hope you enjoy these and if you have pictures of how you celebrated the day, I'd love to see them. I was the only woman Vet. at the celebration. I served during WW11 in 1943 for 2 years. Boot Camp was at Camp Lejeune, N.C. My first duty station was Marine Corps Base, San Diego in the Chaplain's Office. I was asked what I remembered most and I said many things but one was meeting my husband.
I shoulda taken a picture of the donuts and coffee. 😊
What a wonderful get together, wish I could have heard those memories from all of you. Thank you so much for serving and sharing these Annie.
Annie, first thanks for your service and commitment. It's great to have had this small gathering to provide a bit of thanks to these great folks who provided us with the continued freedoms and liberties we enjoy.

Thank you so much, Mike. There's a dwindling number of WW11 Vets. I feel blessed to be one of them.
I salute all those veterans that gathered for that occasion. Nice photos too.

I appreciate your response, mas. There's not many WW11 vets still living and I'm blessed to be one of them. I'm glad to know the male vets here at the Manor. They deserve to be saluted.
Annie, I'm proud to count you as a friend here on the forum! Thank you for serving your country! You are a special lady!

Annie, thank you for everything you and your generation did for our country - we can never repay you.

I rarely to never post photos here as I don't think my photos are good enough for this site, but the celebration we had here was really lots of fun...here is a link to my "Shutterfly" account that has the photo I took at our Veteran's Day Celebration...

I enjoyed the pictures of your celebration, Lane. Where do you live? In the picture of the 4 vets, could you tell me which branch of service the young lady was in?
I think you did a very nice job photographing the event. Thanks for sharing them. 😊
Thank you Annie, to answer your question, I'm in a 55 an older Del Webb community in Beaumont, CA....Beaumont is located at the top of the pass down into the desert i.e. Palm Springs, Palm Desert, etc...about half way between San Bernardino and the Palm Springs area.
When you ask about the 4 vets, if you are referring to the ones with their service dogs, I think she was Air Force, for that matter all of the woman vets that attended that I had contact with were Air Force. There may have been other branches there, but I didn't have contact with them....By the way, again thank you for the nice job compliment.

I lived in Calif and remember the Del Webb place. In fact, I think I visited someone who lived there. It wasn't the one with the service dogs. It was nice chatting with you. God bless! 😊
