I am interested in purchasing a wide angle lens for my Nikon D7000. I am not a pro so looking for something priced reasonable. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

I have the Sigma 10-20 3.5 for my D7000. I think it's a great lens and a good value. Used it exclusively on our trip through the Utah canyons last year.

I also use the Sigma 10-20 and it works well. I use it inside buildings for construction progress shots and I can get very good detail in the entire shot at 10mm (15mm in my crop-sensor).

I got the Sigma EX DG Aspherical DF 15-30 mm F/3.5-4.5 for my D7000 a couple of years ago for $221 on ebay. I like this lens a lot. It's a big piece of glass. Also works on a FF Nikon.

Yes, the Tokina 11-16mm is a good lens at a good price.

One of my friends from B & H, suggested the Rokinon lenses. I bought the 14mm f2.8 lens for my Nikon D750 for about $300. I also have also have the 8 mm fisheye for my Sony A6500.
I have been very happy with both lenses. They are manual focus, not an issue for me. Worth every penny!!!

I have the Tamron 10-24 mm F/2.5-4.5 DII for my wide angle and the Tamron 18-270mm for walk-around. Have not used any of my prime lenses I bought with my D7200 although I probably should as well. There should be some good sales now that we're getting into the holiday season so would follow ABC and see what they are offering.

Hello Sharona, Is your lens offering the new AF-P Nikkor lens? I assume it is based on your description of the lens, in which case it is not compatible with the OP's Nikon D7000 body. Here is a quote from Nikon's own website: "AF-P lenses are not compatible with the D7000. Wide angle lenses that are compatible : AF-S DX NIKKOR 10-24 f/3.5-4.5G ED, AF-S DX Zoom Nikkor 12-24 f/4 If ED, AF-S NIKKOR 14-24 f/2.8G ED, AF NIKKOR 14mm F/2.8D ED".

Save yourself and the OP disappointment and frustration.

Do NOT consider the Nikon AF-P 10-20mm f4.5-5.6 lens! Here is a direct quote from Nikon's website: "AF-P lenses are not compatible with the D7000. Wide angle lenses that are compatible : AF-S DX NIKKOR 10-24 f/3.5-4.5G ED, AF-S DX Zoom Nikkor 12-24 f/4 If ED, AF-S NIKKOR 14-24 f/2.8G ED, AF NIKKOR 14mm F/2.8D ED".

Unfortunately, I don't think AF-P lenses such the Nikkor 10-20mm DX f/5.6-5.6G VR... which is compact, lightweight and costs a little over $300... will work on a D7000 and earlier cameras. (A D7100 or later is required.)

AF-S Nikkor 10-24mm DX or AF-S 12-24mm DX would work on D7000, but are massively over-priced ($900 for the 10-20mm, $1100 for the 12-24mm).

Sure, Nikkor 14-24mm (FX) and 14mm f/2.8 (FX) would both be pretty wide on D7000, too... but those full frame lenses are pricey at around $1800 to $1900.

So your best bet is probably a Tokina 12-28mm f/4 DX, 11-20mm f/2.8 DX or track down a used copy of their prior model 12-24mm f/4 DX or 11-16mm f/2.8 DX. The last is sharp, but very susceptible to flare issues. In Nikon mount, the earliest version of the two older models did not have an in-lens focusing motor, but should be able to AF on your D7000 (which has an in-camera focusing motor, if memory serves). The 11-16mm "II" and the 12-24mm "II" in Nikon mount do have an in-lens focusing motor, so are able to AF on all Nikon bodies. The "II" version of those lenses usually bring a higher price used, than the two earlier, motorless models do.

There are also Sigma 10-20mm (several models) and 8-16mm (widest of the non-fisheye lenes).

And, there's the Tamron SP 10-24mm (first model or the newest one with VC).

Rokinon/Samyang/Bower/Vivitar 14mm f/2.8 is also relatively affordable at around $350 or less, but it's a strictly manual focus, manual aperture lens.
