I like the idea- the focus seems pretty sharp, the shadow is a nice touch. My first impression is that the subject is too little of the frame. No sure if this be would called a macro or just a close-up but to me it would have more impact if the subject was much more of the image either by cropping or in the future a lot closer. I admit that I shoot little of this type and many others have better examples, but here is one that may give you an idea. I am also just another guy with a belly button - meaning take this for whatever you think it worth.

I took the liberty of tweaking a little on 1st. photo. Hope you don't mind. I cropped, added some saturation, & sharpened a little. Unfortunately, it removed the shadow which I thought was pretty cool. Don't know how this will look after it's loaded.
