Back to the Great Salt Plains in OK to try to get photos of the endangered Least Terns. I could use help on improving these, They are fast , unpredictable and mostly in wide open areas. These were taken in the wide river channel by sitting still and waiting for what they would give me. 50D with 100-400 zoom set at 1/1250 f8 to f10 at 400 ISO>

I think #1 and 2 are nice. Also, it must be very gratifying to capture an endangered bird!
Up in the Yukon we'd throw rocks at 'em.
We left no tern unstoned.
#2 beautiful grace! Best inflight I can recall off the top. Yes, "best" !

Thanks mollymolly. We are very blessed to have the Great Plains Wild Life Refuge just 50 miles west of us. It has many species that migrate through and the Least Tern nest there. We get to see Whooping Cranes in migration along with many other species. Yesterday my wife, my daughter and myself made a trip (400 mi roundtrip) to Quivira NWR to find a reported Rednecked Stint. after much searching we did locate it but no way to get a photo. Thanks again!

Love your humor. (at our age it takes a lot of humor) And many thanks for your comment. I did do a little planning but it takes a lot of luck for me to get a decent photo.

Good shots, Lloyd, they are a hard bird to catch, small, fast and unpredictable. I enjoy when I am successful in getting a shot in. They are off their nests and I hope to see quite a few on the beach. Good luck
Thanks Sunfish 33 and gregoryd45. I like a challenge and this was indeed a challenge. I set a goal of trying to get Chimney Swifts in flight but the swifts I tried to photograph last year did not show up this year. The Swifts are really fast and small. I hope that I can find some in the future.
