I would forget about the lens mount and will look at some ID on the lens that will show on what camera it will fit.
By looking at a lens mount it is practically impossible to tell the lens type and what camera it fits.

It is practically impossible to tell what camera it fits without looking at the lens mount!

Put up a pic of the aperture ring area. That may help. Also of the mount looking down on it.

Thank you all for your post. The mount has been identified. I have placed the lens on a Sony a350 and it mounts perfectly, however it only functions in manual mode because it is an older version.

If you want to know what it is, it is a Sigma lens. You want the mount type? Simple, read the lens model on the side of the body and google it. 'Sigma ~model~'.

Something else, this is in the wrong section.

.

There's a lens identification section?!?!?!

I think everyone that followed this thread came to the same conclusion: If you want help with an item identification you need to post images from all appropriate angles to convey visible information and you need to describe any box or container information associated with the item. Just sayin'.

Take it to a camera store; they will know or can find out by trial and error.

This lens was found in with some photo equipment after a friend died this past spring. It does not fit any of the cameras he left ( Sony or Nikon ).Any one know what mount this is?

Just took out my Minolta AF 50mm prime lens. The mount is exactly the same. This is also the Sony "A" mount.
