They're real! Actually, I took many shots along a 15-mile stretch of the parkway.
These were taken about 5 miles into my drive, near the Mattanussen area of the Blue Ridge Parkway.

You didn't enhance the blue color? I'm shocked. I guess that's the meaning of the "Blue Ridge Parkway."

I would love to see that for real.

I don't use photoshop or lightroom. Only enhancement is done with the native Windows photo tool, which is very primitive, only useful for minor cropping, straightening, brightness, and conversion to B & W. However, I have the color setting in my Pentax K3 set away from the default. I used a Sigma 17-70mm f/3.5 lens, white balance of cloudy, and manual mode, with occasional changes to aperture priority. I did not have my tripod on that trip, so I used the auto to help steady my balance and shake resistence.

Nice shots. I live in the Shenandoah Valley, about 10 miles from the Blue Ridge Pkwy.
It's not Mattanussen, but Massanutten Area and that is near Skyline Drive. Which is north of the Pkwy.
Skyline Drive ends at Interstate 64W. and continues there going south as the Blue Ridge Parkway.

Yes Cathy they really do look like that. That's why they are called the Blue Ridge Mountains.
As I live about 10 miles from the Pkwy I can attest to that.

Thanks for the corrections. During my trip, I stayed at tgecresort at Massanutten. And, the parkway is Skyline Dr. It's been more than a year since the trip my memory is sketchy.

It has to do with s chemical emitted by the trees when exposed to sunlight. I was in Asheville NC and Garlinburg TN this last week, and was told this by a tour guide. They are blue...

Actually Skyline Drive was the northern part of the Blue Ridge Pkwy. before it was given to Shenandoah National Park in 1961.

Thanks for confirming this. Interesting to note that the "Green Mountains" of Vermont are actually green in the very earliest sunrise hour. I have many shots showing green hues across the lanspdscape panorama in similar fashion as the blue hues along Skyline Drive in VA.
