Nice shots Brad F. Yes our season over, not what we thought at beginning of season. (0-8). Don't think we have ever had that bad of season. We have one of the best head coaches in the country, he does it the right way. The honest hard working way. We did win state in 2012. What a team we had back then, lost first game of season and then in playoffs we smashed that team and went on to win it all. I am hoping to go to state championships and shoot photos for Maxpreps. Thanks

Tom

Thank you Tom....... This school has been at the bottom for years but I must say that the coaches and students never gave up. Every game I had the pleasure of photographing, the members supported each other until the final buzzer. No put downs or throwing of helmets. Always positive. Great small country school with old fashioned Christian values.....

That's exactly what our country needs right now!! Good old small town values and get back to our Christian values this country was founded on. Thanks

With nothing but respect, if we talk strictly values, not theology, what is an example of a value that is Christian but not Judeo-Christian?

Your pictures are not cropped tight enought and you shoot from a HIGH-ANGLE also, try a longer lens! AP Gawrys freelance SPORTS photographer, 1969-84. AP

AP..... if you can, please post some examples of closer crops and suggest a lens. I’m currently using the 70-200 f/2.8 Nikon.

Thanking you in advance.....

Thank You Brad F for your response. The first thing to notice is the sharpness. Back then there was no such thing as AUTO-FOCUS lenses. The simplest way to focus your lens is to know where infinity was, do you turn your focus to the LEFT or to the RIGHT! Mastering that thought will help you in making the sharpest action photos because you knew which way to turn your lens.

Your 70-200mm f2.8 is a fine lens to use on one camera, however, it's a bit short! Have another camera with a longer zoom. I see great images made with TAMRON'S 150-600mm. Consider adding that lens to your equipment. I shoot 0lympus 4/3rds format it's the best for me. Smaller and lighter in size which includes their fine lenses. They make nine PRO Lenses I own seven. They are TOP-FLIGHT lenses, NO JUNK!

A briefing on these photos: The top four photos were made from a kneeling position with Nikon F2 mounted with Nikkor EDIF 300mm f2.8 held by my Gitzo mono pod. The last news paper photo was shot from a standing position with a short Nikkor 200mm f4 lens. You can notice that standing shows looking down at your photo with too much background of fans in the stands. 200mm is a little short.

These photos are cropped tight. Your eye goes to action in the picture, not being distracted by other things in your image that your eye would be attracted too. Do not be afraid to shoot WIDE OPEN! Long lenses are optimized at their wide aperture. Don't even think of shooting at f8! There are only three things in the making of a photograph: YOUR EYE, YOUR BRAIN, & YOUR SHUTTER FINGER!

Looking through your viewfinder you see the image your brain tells you, snap the shutter stupid! You wait just one second, and your picture is gone forever! If someone talks to you while composing; do not pay attention too them. You'll miss that classic decisive moment, gone forever!

I have not been on assignment in thirty eight years, but still would love to make some photos of TOM BRADY! My two BIG lenses for my Olympus are 300mm f4 = 600mm f4 and Panasonic 100-400mm f4-6.3 = 200-800mm, KILLER Lenses!

Shooting SPORTS will put you ahead of others because you have to be quick to see that action to be made! Keep in touch Brad . . . AP

Thank You raymondh, for your observation. Remember, if you see a peak image snap that shutter! You may have captured a decisive moment! Wait one second and it's too late, you image is gone forever . . . AP
