My daughters and I, along with the new fiancé of the eldest and a good, albeit staunch young liberal, longtime friend spent the day touring prospective wedding venues in the Albermarle region of Virginia today. It's breathtaking countryside and I can't blame them (kid #1 and soon to be son in law) for being attracted to this region. On our way between #2 and #3 we stopped for lunch at a winery on the way....which BTW, we plan to return to someday in the near future. It happened to be the one winery owned by none other than our POTUS. Also a beautiful venue, to which we will return for an official tour unless another place steals their hearts (and is within our budget) first.

Aforementioned liberal buddy hoped to find something to dislike, but she loved the wine almost as much as the most amazingly delicious winery food I've ever had. I told her that everyone has something to love about them and with a sheepish expression she acknowledged that to be true.

On the way to venue #4, the talk turned to "refugees" and her work in a non-profit to benefit said refugees across the globe and in the USA. She muse don't why every date ran for the hills immediately after learning how she earned her livelihood. She didn't agree that we should keep out those who don't have permission to be here am doing how wrong it was to not take care of these people. At that's point I posed a question to her: what would happen to you if you illegally crossed the border into china, Russia, Afghanistan, Mexico, South Korea, etc. Without hesitation she said she'd be jailed......and realized her own double standard. The little crack of light. She hid from it just like it was on cue...although she acknowledged her inconsistency, she deflected and said conservatives were also hypocritical...changed her argument to gun control, which she dropped before getting anywhere near close to losing.

One step forward, half step back. But forward progress nonetheless.

All sophisticated European Countries would do the same thing. There is no country in the World that doesn't actively control their borders.

The majority of left and right Americans agree that we should control our borders. Some of us realize the complexity of "controlling our borders". What do we do with the immigrants who came here as young children and have known no other home? What about hard working people who have lived here for decades and contributed much to our society? If a child was born here and is a American citizen with all the rights of an American citizen, do we rip apart their family by deporting their parents. If we deport all illegal residents, what effect will that move have on agriculture, construction, etc. How many refugees fleeing from horrific conditions in their own countries do we have a moral obligation to accept? These are just a few of the questions which must be answered. You oversimplify this complicated issue by simply referring to it as "controlling our borders".

Many Democrats believe in open borders and accepting anybody who wants to come into our country. What is so horrible about Mexico or other places that we cannot send people back where they came from? I am not worried much about the effect deporting i*****l a***ns would have on our country. We have plenty of people who could fill those jobs if we just stop giving them welfare.

We already are. We just need to stop and take care of those that are already here born here raised here.
How many US born citizens don't have jobs either sleeping on the streets or filling our jails, and dying daily in our streets.
What about them?

Don't you ever think with an open mind or reasoning above a third grade level. Shipping parents back is the right and legal thing to do. Legal or illegal children can go with them.
Seems that you have a problem understanding that. If we need workers we can give out green cards that have limitations. Simple isn't it? Even President Barak Obozo understood
part of that.

You libs love word games. Especially the ones that change definitions to suit your view.
However, our laws don't change because you want them to.
Those who come here without permission are just as illegal as those who k**l innocent people for wh**ever reason they have.

It's only a double standard if she thinks those people should be jailed for illegally entering other countries.

And I hope you don't really think that you have provided an example of logic; or we have another example of how our education system has failed. For which I blame the Democrats for there mamby pamby education policies. Unless you are a minority, in which case I blame the Republicans for their r****t segregation policies.
