Images taken at the Madisonville Wooden Boat Festival. This festival is held every October in Madisonville, La.
This is the oldest boat I saw. Built in 1928. Most of the other wooden vessels were docked stern to the bulkhead leaving very little room between vessels.

Nice. I love boats. I wrote a true short story about sailing to Block Island, by Catherine Pepin Kowalski, "Sailing to Block Island." On Amazon Kindle. Did you know that it is free to publish to Amazon Kindle?

Thanks Angela. It was a very nice day, even a little to warm with the amount of walking I did. Will post some more in a day or two. The next oldest boat I saw was built in 1930. Everything from the cruiser post to 18' runabouts. All made of wood.

It takes a long time and such talent to build a boat from wood.... looking forward to your next set!!
Maybe in my next lifetime I'll have a boat!

Those boats were fantastic. There is a similar one rotting away, uncovered, near my home in Oriental, NC. Been there for years. Just waiting to collapse. I keep hoping someone will rescue it from the uncaring owner.

What a wonderful boat! She certainly has aged well. Lovely shots, Don, and a fun festival.

Would be a shame to just let it rot away. I agree with you kvanhook. Thanks for viewing and commenting.

I think I saw one there from Mobile Dixiegirl, will see if I was correct and try to find it. The festival is every October if you ever care to attend. Just Google "Madisonville Wooden Boat Festival". Glad you liked the shots.

Will do, Don, and I'll look for your picture of the Mobile boat.
