Undecided between two lenses: I have a Nikon D 5600 and am undecided between two lenses , the Nikon 24-120 mm f/4 and the Tamron 18-400 mm. I mostly do travel and street photography.

For the types of photography you mentioned, the Nikon would probably be more useful.

You can get a used 24-120mm lens from Adorama for $590. It is a full frame format lens.

For a crop sensor camera, and landscapes or street, the 24-120mm may not be wide enough in many circumstances. You might look at the Tamron 16-300mm if you do not think you need the reach of the newer 18-400mm. The Nikon 18-140 is probably the best of the do everything zooms from Nikon. For street, you might treat yourself to a prime like the Nikon dx 35mm f/1.8.

Had the Nikon 18-200 sold it and bought the Tamron 18-400. The Tamron is well made and so far happy with the lens.

Here are lots of lens comparison sites. Several of them will let you select the lens and see actual images. Generally speaking, the wider the focal length spread, the lower the quality of the images.

For the type of photography you mentioned, I would suggest a third choice: the 16-35. Long reach is not that useful for street photography unless you like to isolate subjects which would seem (to me) to remove a critical element

Of those 2 I would jump on the Tamron. For street and travel photography you need the 18 mm at least and probably wider.

The Nikon is far better than the Tamron. If you buy used make sure its the f4 version. The older version is not good.

The Nikon 24-120 is a super street photography lens and just an all-around useful lens.

I'd go with the Nikon lens. For street photography you don't need a 400 mm reach and that's a big, heavy lens. I chose the D5500 over the D7200 because the 5500's lighter and more compact. Adding a zoom lens that big takes that advantage away and it'll feel like a bowling ball hanging off your neck by the end of the day. As noted however, you do want a wide angle capability so maybe go with Nikon's 16 - 85 mm or 18 - 140 mm lens.

Tamron is a better fit for what you want to do. BUT, how big is it? For street, unobtrusive is desireable.

To complicate your decision, I'd take a look at the Sigma 18-250. I bought it several months ago to use on my backup camera and it has become the main lens on my main camera. If you want to go with Nikon, I'd suggest the 18-200.
