Lightroom display question

I just started using LR3 about a week ago and need a little help. Sometimes I shoot Raw+jpg and when I upload into LR in the grid view it shows the image and on it NEF+jpg but I don't know which I am looking at and would like to see both but can't find that option in the set up. In PSE it shows both so I can decide which I want to edit. Thanks.

For :R3, under the main window, the selected filename is listed (red arrow):

From the main menu go to EDIT > Preferences (on a window machine) or LIGHTROOM > Preferences (Mac). Under the "General" tab click on: "Treat JPEG files next to RAW files as seperate photos." If this is unselected, LR treats the JPEG file as a sidecar file and you get the designation in grid view "NEF+JPEG" or "CR2+JPEG"

Thank you. I checked it and nothing happened. I closed it and opened, still nothing. I synced the folder and unstacked and still the same. What else can I try?

Since this setting is applied on import, you may need to reimport those photos. Hopefully, you still have them on the memory card because that would be the easiest way. Anything new you import from here on should show both files.

If you still have them on the card, just import the ones you need. You do that with the check marks on the photos. You will also need to uncheck the box in the right hand column that says: "don't import suspected duplicates."

If you don't still have them on your memory card, then you probably can reimport them from wherever Lightroom has them stored. Again, only do the files you need and uncheck the " don't import suspected duplicates" box.

It it always good policy to back up your files before messing around like this.

Let me know how you make out.

That was it. Thank you very much. Seems funny you can't apply it to existing libraries. I am really liking LR, I hate having to learn something else new but it sure does a nice job of what it can do.
