Oh, I still have my D300 (the rebel that started all this - the one without a T#) that I have had since 2003, but it just is not the same - besides, I have to carry 4 batteries because they are so old they only last for <50 shots anymore. That old Rebel was/is a great camera - I fell down hills, dropped it, got it wet, and just about anything else you could - but should not - do to a camera, and it still works when I ask it to.
But, it is just not the same....

Could you share with us the reasons for the rehabilitation? What kind of improvements do you expect or hope for. After the camera is returned, that is.
While it’s away ......now you can get a Nikon?

I'm not sure that's the answer. It could add to his depression :)

My lens (Sigma 18-250) stopped autofocussing, So, I swapped it to my D300 and it worked; I put my 18-55 on the T6i and it didn't autofocus. Cleaned the contacts - nothing. Tried my old 28-80 on both bodies - worked on D300 and not on T6i.
Then I discovered that it was not contacts in the camera, but was deep within the black body - I discovered that autofocus works in the basic modes but does not work in P, Tv, Av, or M. Now, I rotated the dial to that region only once before - when I was walking through the manual upon purchase, so I was in unknown territory outside my comfort zone.
My wife forced me to buy the 3 year Mack Warranty when I bought the camera - and that is why I keep her around.

I am sure that Nikon makes a perfectly fine camera, but I will probably never find out, unless I outlive my current camera and Canon ceases to make cameras and recalls all current models.
Boy, the back and forth of our resident Philosophers in this post is a great day starter. My belly muscles are hurting from laughing so hard. You all have a great day.

CT, I apologize for interrupting your day with drivel, however, please notice that my opening has given others a chance to relate their thoughts and emotions when faced with having to send their camera, lens, flash or scanner out and away from their care and entrust it to total strangers that they have never seen. I fully understand that while most of us age gracefully and look forward to each new day that God has given us, there are some that cannot help but be sour on the world and take their sourness out on everyone they meet.
I Do hope you have a day filled with the blessings of God and you see great visions through your viewfinder all weekend.

You have my GAS profile down pat. My D500 is a second body for my D850.

Think of it as ‘going away to camp’ -
The T6i will build a birdhouse, toast s’mores, braid a lanyard and come home soon with a nice tan.🚣🏼
And a woven pot holder for mom and a key chain for dad! (If the camp knows anything about Marketing for repeat business.)
