Hello, I'm a mom and nurse from Connecticut who loves to take pictures of my children, my nieces and nephews, life events, and anything basically that walks into my backyard. I am always looking for ways to improve my technique. I have moved from using full auto mode to shooting mostly on manual these days after a lot of reading, and a research to educate myself on the use of my camera. I shoot with a Canon 60D that I've had since 2011. I hope you're eating topics on this form will help to improve my technique.

Wow Lauren great photos! I'm new here too...signed up about 10 minutes ago. I LOVE photography. Its been a long time. My last serious shots were on film. I mostly used 35mm and some medium format. I need to familiarize myself with digital. I found this site by accident but I think I'm going to love it. Right now I'm using my phone camera and have had some nice results; but once I buy a serious camera...

Hi Lauren, welcome to the hog. You will get all the answers you want here. Just ask the questions. I like your initial post. That looks like a heavy duty wave coming in, I hope the girls got out of it...Quite a slide into the base.
I also have and use a 60D Canon. Went all through Italy and Israel with me. I still use it. My suggestion is post your shots, ask for a critique. Make some good friends. Private message some. But mainly, have fun here.

I had used 35mm until 2004 then got the first digital rebel from canon(which still works) then got my 60d which I love.
I'm saving for next body. I've always repaired this one once and my all purpose 18-200mm lens. Got a change jar started😉
