Well done creative series. I love the close ups. They have an abstract quality that is very interesting. I also love #7. The perspective and the reflection make this an excellent full view of the fountain!

Is it in remembrance of the football team lost in the plane crash? I saw the movie and it was very moving.

Yes. The fountain is a memorial for the 75 lives lost. I started as a student at Marshall in 1971, the year following the crash, but I lived in the area. I cam back to work as the university photographer in 1979 and have been here since. Warner Bros. shot a lot of the movie here on campus and in Huntington. I was allowed some back scene access to photograph the making of the movie. It brought back old memories but at the same it was interesting to see how a movie was made. I actually was an extra in the movie in the press conference scene where the new coach is introduced. I played, of all things, a photographer.

I like to photograph the fountain in the early morning or night when things are quiet and I can just wander around and see some possibilities.

It was. My wife, daughter and son-in-law also were extras. My daughter was able to intern with Warner Bros. during the filming here and in Atlanta. At times she was giving the task of keeping people away from Matthew McConaughey during filming.

What does the sculpture symbolize or represent?
I understand that it is a memorial of a plane crash.

Your close ups really caught my attention - color and form - just excellent. I also love the B&W of the entire fountain. WOW, what an excellent subject you have there to photograph. Good on ya!!!
