Day # 15 - Date : Sunday, October 29, 2017
If its one type of bird that I don't worry about seeing tis the Woodpeckers. I have 3 types that are guaranteed to visit my suet stations every day. The smallest of these characters is the Downy Woodpecker. I have 2 families that have been coming to feed all this year. However, appears they only brought one fledgling this year which is down from previous years. They seem to be the first in whenever I refill my suet log, just as though they are sitting up in the birch trees all the time (probably are :-)). The 2 families are quite easy to tell apart as the size of one is quite small (size of a large sparrow) whom we call PeeWee. The other pair is larger, getting close to the of a small Hairy.
Hope you enjoy the pics of the first of 3 regular Woodpeckers that frequent our yard.
