wife bought AF-S Nikkor 14-24mm f 2.8 G ED. This is 2nd new one after 1st trying a 9++ used. Neither of us is "technically" inclined but have tried all three on two different Nikon bodies (D7100 & D610). Same result: a distinct shadow in the low center of the images. The first two units were returned but we're holding the 3rd hoping that we, not Nikon, are the problem. Regardless the mode, flash or not, same result. Any help???

Post an example JPEG and store the original. Your description does not make the issue clear to understand.

Like CHG CANON said, load a photo and check the "store original" box. We can see the metadata and the image.

That was my first thought, but I don't think it will snap on incorrectly, and he said the shadow is in the lower center. Let's wait to see what it actually looks like.

I have that lens. The lens hood is integral to the lens (can't remove it)

Perhaps you are using the on camera flash? If so, try some shots without the flash.

The OP said he did flash and not flash in his post.

I had that problem when using flash and my 28-135 lens (Canon). For some reason that lens causes a shadow. I now have a new flash unit and frankly I've never used it. So I don't know if it still does that.

CHG_CANON and CO are correct. Guessing games are fun, but

There'll be no useful answers unless you post an example of your problem. Be sure to check "load original" as CG Canon asked.
