Fitbit Charge 2. I need help

I am not a computer person but I can follow instructions at least I always thought so. My setup is as follows; PC OS, Windows 10 home, OS build 10586.420. Ver 1511. I am trying to download the Fitbit app as per the manual. It always fails, "Something unexpected happened error code 0x80080204.." after reset It states app pending and it may stay like that for hours when it starts to download again the DL speeds are .2 and .3kb/s then after a time it will fail with the same error.

I bought this thing because they said it would work on a windows 10 computer. I don't have a cell phone. I have been to the Fitbit sites but I don't understand much of what they are talking about. for example, it took me a long time to find out what a Dongle was. I know, read the manual, the manual says "download the app, when it's done downloading open the app." Like I said I need help. REJ.

I sympathize. Bad directions and meaningless error codes are the bane of the electronics industry. I have a little FitBit that's smaller than my pinky, and I get weekly emails showing my steps and miles. The computer app is hit or miss, often not being able to connect with the device, but I still get those weekly reports - somehow. Email them - if possible - and they might have a solution.

I have the Fitbit One and consider it as having been a waste of money. Although I am up and down the stairs many times a day I rarely get more than 1 or 2 credited. Finally found out why. The Fitbit only counts single stair rises of 10 feet or more. Our stair rise is 11 feet but there is a landing where the stairs make a right angle. The other is the calorie counter. At night put it on a shelf, then check it the next morning. The counters zero at midnight but the calorie counter will not stay zero after midnight when sitting on a shelf. So the calories burned is baloney.

I recently lost my fitbit one and miss it dearly. When my millennial daughter gave it to me for Christmas a couple years back she got the app on my computer. So the answer is: Have someone half your age solve the problem.

I had the FitBit Zip and it worked fine except that the battery life kept diminishing until I was having to replace every two weeks. Got to be more expensive than it was worth. If you go to their website for support, you are able to do an online chat. I followed all their instructions for testing the battery and settings but still had the same problem. Since I was beyond the warranty period they offered me 25% off another FitBit product. I declined and purchased an old fashioned pedometer instead - cheaper and does what I need. Fortunately I had purchased my FitBit at REI and, after I explained the problem, they gave me a full refund. Incidentally, both of my sisters-in-law purchased the same product and are having battery issues as well. They advertise battery life as 5-6 months. I am not a FitBit fan.

Does anyone actually use Fitbit data for any practical purpose. My doctor reccommends at least 1/2 hour of walking a day. Of what use are knowing number of steps, distance, calories?

Yeah, that was a nuisance, and the first one I had stopped working. Five or six months is way too optimistic. The one I have is rechargeable.

I started with Charge HR in March 2016. Replaced it early this year with the Charge 2. Use it with Win 10 and iPhone with no issues. I log calorie intake with My Fitness Pal. Fit Bit syncs with that app and shows calories consumed and used. It will show calories burned when I get up in the morning. You do burn calories when you are asleep. It bases that on your weight and height. Stair count is not perfect, but close most of the time. It goes crazy when I ride scooter. Sleep activity is mostly accurate, but will record sleep if you are laying still and awake. I guess that I would say that I use it for motivation as much as anything. Get a weekly report from Fitbit and My Fitness Pal showing activity and nutrients from food intake. My Fitness Pal is only as accurate as the input it receives, you have to be accurate and honest in food entries. Just checked my Fitbit Dashboard and lifetime steps are 4,016,279. That translate for my stride to approximately 2,008 miles. By the way, battery charge is advertised as 5 to 6 days, which is about what I get, depending upon activity level for the week.

Back to the original posted question. I would suggest calling the support number they are very helpful with problems.

Try this if your still having problems. Type in "Fitbit for Windows" on search, the page with listed sites, pick "fitbit setup." The page has what looks like three cell phones, roll the page below them, and there is a download for Windows in a redish pink panel. Versions 2.2.

I have a Zip with me all the time. Have COPD and need to do walking everyday for exercise and it's good to know roughly what your average is. Had no probs over 18 months. Use el cheapo batteries - a card of 10 from the $2 shop. Not quite the same number - 2025 rather than the required 2035 but the only dif in size is v small and they last 2 to 3 months at least

You should update your version of Windows 10. Your version is 2 years old (1511 = November 2015). There are a number of devices, for example Logitech web cams, that didn't work in earlier versions of Windows 10 but were fixed in newer versions. There's no charge for the update.
