First, it's only 20MP ... like the D500 and the D5 ...

Right, less pixels means BIGGER pixels ... there - I've saved you the argument ...

But, the D7200 is a little less, now ... and has 24MP ... just like its predecessor - the D7100 ...

Both of the above fore-mentioned - also have dual SD card slots (as does THEIR predecessor - the D7000) ...

Oh, and here's the kicker ... I'll bet you didn't KNOW this one, huh, guys?

It lacks the all-important screw - which means it WON'T work with older Nikon lenses ... they really screwed YOU on this one!!!!

Ah, but - it DOES have - a tilt screen!!!!!

Whoopee-doo!!!!

The D7500 will auto focus with the same older AF lenses that other D7xxx series cameras can use.

Are you SURE about that, Apaflo?

The thing I read indicated it will only accept the AF-S G type lenses ...

Just like the intermediate D5000 line and the D3000 beginner line ....

Which kinda defeats the whole argument in favor of the latest release Prosumer DX ...

If I ever get some money to buy a superior camera than the Olympus E-PL1, I don't know what to get: a Canon or a Nikon? Should I wait for a mirrorless full-feature PRO?

They exist, look at Sony products.

I saw a post on a search for SONY mirrorless that said, "... SONY garbage..." but the article disappeared... I wanted to read it.

I know quite a few landscape (and sea 'scapers) who use them and they love them. I don't own one.

I read that the Canon EOS M5 has a problem with a person's nose hitting the touch sensitive display when using the view-finder, requiring the turning-off of the inputs from the display because of this problem. Anyone have any ideas about this problem on any cameras other than Canon?

Galaxy ... if you already have a small investment in Oly/Panny 4/3 lenses ... I'd stay with it, if I were you ...

The Oly EM 1 II and the Panny GH5 ... are both pretty good cameras, from what I hear ....

If you must go the Nikon / Canon route ... first decide whether you want a FF product or a Crop-Sensor Product ...

If you choose the latter ... then decide whether a $700 camera is enough for you, or you'd rather spring for a grand or more ...

Then, when you've decided on that - ZERO IN on those in that price range ....

Nikon has 3 good choices at the grand level ... D7500, D7200, D7100 ....

They also have several good choices at the $700 level - D5600, D5000 (both with touch-screen)

If you want GPS ... their D5300 - at around $500-600 is an excellent choice ...

At the grand level on the Canon side - is the EOS 80D ....

For about $300 less ... you can get the new EOS 77D ... both smaller and lighter, and does stabilized video, too!!!!

But then - so do the Oly and Panny models I mentioned - at more than twice the price ....

Hey, Cat ... I can't spend your money for you ... you have to decide which is the best route to take ... then examine your options ...

Here's a good site that makes it easier ... www.cameradecision.com ....

Ignore it, Cat ...

Sony has one of the best mirror-less designs going ... almost everyone raves about 'em ... and their SLTs are just as good ...

The only other company making mirror-less cams in the same league is Fuji ....

But - you're already Olympisized ... look at THEIR offerings, first, Cat ...

Never heard that, Cat ....

That dig cam in my Avatar is the very first Canon DSLR released with a touch-screen ... the EOS Rebel T4i ...

Had it since it was new in 2011 ... never had any problem such as you've mentioned ...

But, then - the M5 is mirror-less ... not sure whether it has a VF or not ...

Anyway ... ALL Canon APS-C cameras currently (except the beginner T5 and T6 models) ALL have a touch-screen ...

So, if that WERE a problem ... I'm sure they would have rectified it, by now ....

I reckon the Sony alpha a7 ... is one of the best landscape cameras around, eh, Richard?

One of the better ones (Sony A7r2).
More importantly is the photographers skill, and dedication.

R2, oh ... you mean a7R II ... gotya ....

Right, the photographer makes the best landscape picture - depending on his (or her) approach ...

But, having the best hardware, in order to do - precisely that ... sure helps, huh, Richard?

Not as much as you may think, for 'scapes.

Here are 3 examples shot with far from the "best"
For me the most important "tools" are:
An alarm clock.
A good tripod, with a cable/remote release
A Filter system for the lens.
