Found a great used Gitzo tripod in 24 hours!

Having watched UHH and CraigsList for months and seeing nothing decent listed... I tried an ad in the photo/video section of local Craigslist. I told my g/f, "There's got to be someone out there with equipment sitting in a closet..."
Text of the listing: "I am looking for a tripod suitable for shooting with a 800mm telephoto. Older is fine. Send photos or make and model.
Have cash. Will travel. " I even listed $300 as the price.
Today, in just 24 hours, I got a call from a guy 10 miles way with several tripods he was willing to bargain on!
What a deal! If you've been looking this might be something that would work elsewhere.

Gitzo 3068 legs. Manfroto 3047 head. Meeting tomorrow and he's adding in another unit of undisclosed make. This thing is heavy, vintage, but solid as a rock. More detail tomorrow.

Are sure about those legs sound like Bogan or Manfroto legs. Gitzo: starts usual with a alpha letter like "G".

I just met him for coffee and he threw in a set of Bogan 3050 legs. Needs to be cleaned.
