Eric Hoffer's brief classic, The True Believer, speaks to the current political situation; it is as pertinent today as it was when first published in 1951. For those who aren't familiar with it, see this:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_True_Believer For those who bother to read the Wiki you will note that President Eisenhower liked the book and gave numerous copies to friends and associates.
Hoffer discusses the dynamics of many mass movements, discussing the rise and fall of such, and the difficulties faced by movements following the death or deposing of their inspirational leader. I would urge those on BOTH sides of the current conflict to spend the time to read this seminal book. It is available from Amazon, among other vendors; a proper public library should have copies.
