Spent a couple of nights camping on the Astronomy field at Cherry Springs State Park (an IDA location) in north central Pennsylvania. Accuweather predicted a "9" for Wednesday, 18 October, and they were right. This is a stack of 8 images processed in Photoshop CS3. Nikon D700, Nikkor 300mm f4, ISO6400 for 90 seconds mounted on an Ioptron Skytracker Pro.

Great job Dean.
The Gas Lanes turned out sweet.

Thanks...gotta love a dark sky. Wish that I could capture a bit of detail in the center. My choice of exposure blew the highlights. I tried to use selective processing on the center...it turned an ugly gray.

Very nice!

You could eliminate the star stretch and fringing in Photoshop but nice the way it is.

Hot stuff!!! Now I know what my lenses can do! Sigma 150-600 and a Tamaron 70-300 mm. I have a Sky-Watcher Star Adventurer that I am just ichin' to set up and use.

It's going to be a while. I need to wait for the new moon and the moon now is approaching a time when star photos are just not very good. Give me about a month. Bill
