Despite some focus problems and some other issues, I've always kind of liked this photo- taken in a Seattle market place. I considered placing it in "People Photography" but I really want the opinions of the people that frequent this section.

I like the image even with technical deficiencies Matt. I find the people are what should be showcased here so I would suggest cropping down from the top to just above the mans elbow, up from the bottom to just below the first row knees and in from the left just clipping some of the bag.....not that I'm anyone your looking for an opinion from..laughing

Thanks for commenting. Quite candidly I have been too intimidated to post anything here but I do enjoy the section. I figured it was time to enjoy it a bit more by posting and taking my licks.
Thanks again for your advice.

Edit: Tried your suggestions but didn't work for me. I really felt that the man walking by was important as well as the scene across the street. (But that's just me!) I could have done without the car though.

Just level it then you're done.

It already is level. Look at the verticals...

But if it was not level it would not actually be a problem. Robert Frank and Garry Winogrand often left non level images just as they were. Both became icons for Street Photography.

I did look at verticals, the pole on the right it slightly tilted to the right. That's why I said that. But then the pole on the left is slightly tilted left. but looking again, maybe there is a little bit of optical distortion. Or Maybe my house is distorted? (I do live in SoCal, we get that sometimes). Our technology today is very different now. Those were simpler times. I too long for them. But if you want to emulate their style, maybe BW would be the thing.

Anyway it was just a suggestion. Not to detract from the beauty of the shot. I like the shot. It conveys a lot of emotion.

I think you have an interesting shot here. Left as it is, it is a very good street photograph. It has the cars, buildings, and all the mess that goes along with a street scene. For that genre, I don't think any modifications are necessary. If you want a "people shot", then I think you might want to crop out some of the "street" distractions. That way, your viewer would be concentrating solely on the people. Either way it is a good effort. I like it also. I hope you won't feel intimidated to post more of your work. We don't always agree, we sometimes try to get a poster to see "our vision"; but I don't think you have to worry about "licks". 99 percent of the people who make comments are courteous and considerate even if they have criticism about any posted photos.

Love the details! Your composition takes us naturally from foreground to rear with so many potential and interesting stories in those faces along the way: boredom, fatigue and more. Super contrasts between their inactivity and those who are walking on the street behind. And then we wonder what those benches are doing practically in the busy street anyway?? This held my attention for quite awhile, Matt, and I'm not even into people or street photography
