Miss My NX1

I've used Pentax K3, Samsung NX1, and lately Nikon D750. Not Canon yet. But looking back at the pics from the Galapagos, I really miss my NX1. It was my favorite of the lot. So, why didn't I keep it? It was stolen. I had a chance to replace it, but at the time, Samsung announced they would no longer be supporting it as they were exiting the high end camera market. Dang!

There are currently 6 of them for sale on eBay. If the camera is as good as you say then what does it matter if Samsung no longer makes them, as long as it works. I still occasionally shoot with a Canon 50D and do time lapse projects with a Canon 40D and those models haven't been made in years, but they still work, heck, I have a 10D I occasionally brush the dust off of and pop in a battery and memory card and take some pics, just to keep it from getting too lonely.

I hear ya, and that went through my mind several times since. But it's more than just Samsung not supporting it. Although they were relatively new to the market, they were quite advanced. The NX1 got rave reviews. Being new, there was a VERY limited assortment of lenses, and none for long zoom. They had announced a 300mm zoom, and I waited patiently for it, but finally they backed out and gave up. So, no lenses to choose from, plus other manufacturers did not support Samsung either. A new cool accessory comes out, and only for Nikon, Canon and Sony. Those are some of the reasons I passed on replacing it. Those on eBay are still rather pricey even for body only. Can't justify 2 good cameras at this point. Maybe if I find one cheap some day...

I guess I'm not alone in that arena then. I had the Samsung NX500 (stripped-down version of the NX1) that produced some awesome photos. I was very disappointed with Samsung when they so abruptly divorced themselves from the premium camera market. I still regret selling the camera but have replaced it with the Canon EOS M3.
