Problem with Settings menu D7100

In a Nikon D7100, when I try to see my RECENT SETTINGS menu in the SETTINGS MENU, I cannot access recent settings. What I get in the settings menu is “Battery info” “Save User Settings” and choose tab. I have chosed the Recent Settings Tab rather than the My Menu Tab.
I do not have this problem with my other Nikon D7100.
I have tried to save settings to my U1. I have set my dial to U1 and then moved to the Settings Menu and the Recent Settings do not show up.
I would appreciate any suggestions.

I've never used that feature, but try these pages in the manual: xi, 19, 291.
