I am about to purchase a 5D MkII refurb from Canon. Have a 50D and a 7D and am going to sell 50D. Heard rumors about a 7D MkII coming out. Of course the 5D is full frame and that makes a difference. Don't need more fps speed. Do weddings, portraits, and gallery fine art prints. Can't really spend for MkIII and not quite sure if it is worth an additional $1300+ for the Digic 5+. Am getting the 5D MkII from Canon for $1407 w/trade in (Elph). So should I get it or not or maybe wait but anything newer will have high price for awhile? If Ionly had an unlimited budget I'd buy 1D (top of line) and keep everything.

I have the 5D MkII and love it! I kept my 50D as my backup for weddings and events. It will take some time before I learn all of the things that this camera can do.

If you can come up with the bucks, there's no reason not to get it. Would you consider selling your current cameras to get an older model? Of course not. Newer is generally better. Since you use it to earn money, it's a tax deduction.

I also use the 5D MkII, and highly recommend it! You will love the video feature if you do any of that for weddings and events.....it is so good it has been used to film movies. You can video and still take photographs at the same time. Love this camera...go for it!

I love my 5D MarkII! After reading the reviews on the MarkIII I decided there just wasn't enough quality improvement to warrant the cost.

I love my 5d mark 2. I also own a 5d mark 3. The mark 2 is my backup but I have no problem using it as my primary unless I need the faster autofocus or the low light features. I bought it for the low light. I can shoot very presentable photos at 12500 iso. As a photojournalist I shoot a lot of low light. You can't go wrong with the 5dm2. For weedings, portraits, and fine art prints the 5dm2 is wonderful.

Do they charge for shipping and sales tax? That seems like a pretty good deal. Been thinking of getting a full frame myself and can't afford a mkIII or the 1D's

Shipping is free. Sales Tax has to be paid. It's better than a good deal. It's a super deal.

I just bought the Canon 5D Mark II, an upgrade from my T1i, and absolutely love it! If you are able to buy it you definitely should, especially for the type of work you shoot.

Just a note... the 24-105 lens that came with my Mark II is unreal! A wonderful walk around lens for a good price. The image quality is superb.

Jerry,

I purchased a 5D MKII at the beginning of the year. I LOVE this camera. I do landscapes and the full frame is great for wide angle shots. I'm using the 24-70mm f2.8 L and the 8-15mm f4.0 L. Because of the crop factor, I don't get the same effect when using these lenses on my 7D. However, the 7D is more for faster focus and higher burst rate.

PD

I wouldn't hesitate to go with the 5DII.

I did a few months ago BEFORE the currently loyalty trade in deal (I paid 1800.00) and even that is a good price...1400.00 is a STEAL...

It's a great camera.

I did and received it this past Friday. Just did a $1400 wedding this weekend so essentially got it for free. At least that's how I justified the cost to my wife! Now I'll sell my 50D on eBay - more cost justification for my 5D MkII purchase. The only problem is I have one EF-S lens and it will only fit on my 7D. MkII only uses EF lenses. Now I'll use that as an excuse to get a new lens too!! As EF lenses fit 7D and 5D!!!
