This is a beautiful photo, soft focus or not. It's great.

Hi, I am hesitant to ask this question for fear of being torn apart. (some people on this forum can be brutal). Here it goes. Can wind cause noise or focus issues? I took photos on the beach with remnants of Tropical Storm Debbey stirring up the wind. My photos were noisy and the focus seemed soft. Thanks everyone.
I really can't add anything to the other comments about the focus issues.
The vignetting is certainly one of personal taste. As a general rule I stay away from it, but it sure works for these pictures. I would, however, personally prefer softening it a bit so it just leads your attention to the main subject without jumping out at you as much.
It look like a very nice sky. I'd like to bring it out more. That would make the reflection in the water on the beach in the first shot really nice.
Those are just one man's opinions. These are good shots. I would be proud of them just the way they are.

OK- Here is my suggestion: Either lose the vignette or lessen it. As it is it is a bit heavy handed. A good vignette for this type of image is almost imperceptible - a very slight darkening with a transition so gradual that is is impossible to see where it starts and ends.
Then re-crop to lose some of the sand and place the girl in the lower third/right third. The rule of thirds really does work with this image. I downloaded it and did what I suggested and it looks great that way. Try it.

Both photos look fine to me. I don't see anything wrong with them. In fact, I think they're great.
In my humble opinion, I think the first image is outstanding!

I like these shots and how you have 'edited' them. Nice.
And as for the wind. Is it possible that the slightly soft focus is the result of sea spray in the air, or even on the lens itself?
Ditto, hoped you cleaned your lens afterwards, whether it needed it or not.
Thanks Captain C. I will try it. I was hesitant to crop it because the mom is going to print it on a canvas so I was trying to keep as much of the perimeter as possible. Is there a rule for cropping when printing on a canvas?

If you are going to make a canvas wrap, you need to allow about a 2 inch border that will be wrapped. Your printer should tell you how much. Could be more, could be a bit less.
If you do a canvas wrap, think carefully how your vignetting will look with two inches taken off the sides and the top and bottom. I'm not sure that is going to look right when viewed directly from the front. Just a thought and a caution.

I agree with RMM about check "store Original" It would be nice if you still downloaded one or both this way, For one thing this allows all specs to be checked. I thing 100 ISO is nice to use, but most often 200 or 400 gives you more options. David in Florida. I think, your photo artwork is outstanding. I love these pictures.
As to the soft focus, could it have anything to do with mist-salt spray in the air? I've taken photos in Florida on a clear afternoon and the salt spray was very obvious.
Both are BEAUTIFUL images!!!

Andrea,
I think these are both beautiful. I personally am not fond of the vignetting on them. When they are printed on the canvas wrap, you may loose the vignetting altogether. But, you've received some very nice suggestions that I am taking note of. Good eye. BTW, my favorite is the first one.

Beautiful shots. I like the feel of the images - the colours, lighting and soft focus, regardless of what caused it. The first image can do with a better composition which can still be achieved by cropping in a photo editor. I don't mind the vignetting but I would be less heavy handed with it.
