On our way home from Gettysburg we visited the Flight 93 memorial, a beautifully quiet place commemorating that horrific event.

Beautiful. I'm glad there's a memorial there.

Related topic. There is a new documentary about a hero at the Pentagon that day.

Excellent Photos. I saw a TV movie about this incident. The day of 9-11-2001, was America's most dreadful day since Pearl Harbor. The stoppage of this flight, prevented more casualties. I have visited Pittsburg in past years, and will try to add this site for a future visit. Along with Gettysburg, first choice. Thanks for sharing.

I think everyone remembers where they were when this happened. I was heading to church with my daughter to do some painting when it was announced on the radio that the first plane hit the tower. We spent the next few hours listening to updates and praying. Later, at home, it was eerie to look up in the sky and not see any contrails since all flights were grounded. May we never forget this!!

Sue, thank you for this well done series. I knew there was a memorial but these are the first pictures I have seen. It seem to be a peaceful place.

Thanks for viewing - you're right, it is a very peaceful place. Also, I was surprised at how many people were there considering that it was late in the afternoon and in October.

Thank you for posting this amazing set of photos. I have never seen any photos of the memorial that has been built there. I certainly remember that day and I always will. I knew a number of people who worked in the Towers. Everyone I knew made it out okay. They were among the lucky ones.

I think everyone has personal memories of that horrible day, just like the earlier generation had of 7 December 1941.

We were in Lockerbie, Scotland last year - that's another tragedy that has been seared into a nation's memory.

...and now, some in our country are " standing up for the rights of Muslims to enter our Country "...and I can't help but wonder if they are deliberately trying to make
a repeat of 9-11-'01 easier for our enemies...where has Common Sense gone in our country?

Thank you for sharing these photographs. Especially poignant to me was the "Grandpa and Sam" photo; it really told an entire story in that one shot. Very very touching.

I'm glad you enjoyed them. I didn't realize what was going on with my husband and Sam until later when Chuck told me about talking to him (Sam) and I connected it to the photo. A bit of serendipity I guess.
