I sincerely hope the poster (and others looking at it) realizes the route on the map as indicated is meant as a joke. Otherwise his incorrect date is the least of his problems.

I hate to tell all of you this but I had students who did not know that a flat map had to be curled and the edges joined to show an approximation of the real relationship of place and distance. They made no connection between the globes in the classroom and those flat maps until it was explained in a lesson. I taught grades 7-12 at one time or another and those clueless ones were scattered through all of those grade levels.
