the name of this plant in our front bed. We were told it was tropical and would die here in Virginia. But it has come back for 5 years now.

Your lovely plant is a Canna Lily! They are supposed to be cold hard in zones 7 - 10. The rhizomes can be dug for the winter and replanted in colder zones.

Thank you Carol. We like the plant. We split it into three plants and all three are doing good.

it's a pretty canna lily. we have some yellow ones my husband dug up on the side of a country road.
