I have a number of pictures that show the date on the lower right side of the picture. The question is: How can I remove the date without ruining the picture or cropping it ? I do not have any PP other than Picassa. Any help would be so gratefully appreciated.

You will need post processing software to remove the date stamps. I don't see any other way around it. Typically found in Adobe software is the clone stamp, spot healing or patch tool.

You might want to precise that you only have Picassa in the thread title otherwise you will get the 'use this or that' and not the right answer...
Something like "
How to remove the date in pictures using Picassa". You have about 40 minutes to change the title....
Post the same question in the Post processing section, you may get more help there too, including a tutorial if one takes the time.

Picasa may be a little work to accomplish what you want.... See here:

Not sure how you entered the date originally but assuming you entered it manually, within the program assuming you are working with a file that you have not "saved" you can open the file in the program enter your curser carefully on the same line right after the date. Once you see your curser blinking simply use backspace and you can remove it. If file has been saved I am pretty sure this will not work. Good luck.
Is it the camera that labels the pictures. Check the menus to see if you can disable.

Since you have Picasa, try the Retouch tool.
Hmm I need to see if I can add a date stamp on the pictures I take with my D3300. Maybe I can get some business documenting people's belongings for insurance purposes. Or businesses.

To everyone who replied. I want to thank you all. I am investigating all the input and more than likely I will try picasa or get one of the programs like lightroom. I have cropped a few of the pictures but i didn't like how much of the picture was lost in cropping. In any event, you have all helped me immensely, so, again thank you all.

1. Get Irfanview (free), and get the plug-ins, too.
2. With the picture on the screen, click on Edit on the top Menu.
2. Click on "Show paint dialog."
3. At the upper right of that box is a Stamp Tool. Click on that and adjust the width a bit farther down - "Width (px)."
4. When you move your cursor over the image, you will see a white circle with red border. Put that on the color/pattern you want to copy and right-click.
5. Then put the circle where you want that color/pattern to appear, and it will appear. Left-click, and that color/pattern will appear. See the red dot on Daisy's nose.
It takes about five seconds to do something like this, and it's the best program I've found for making corrections like this. Take your time and practice. If you mess up the picture, just reload it and start over. You can save your progress bit by bit. For example, leave the original the way it is and save progress as Pic1, Pic2, etc. That way, you don't have to start over if you mess up.

You need a program that can do cloning like just about any of the Adobe products.

If you get the plug-ins, pressing E or I will get you lots more info on the images being displayed.
