Riverbanks Zoo and Garden is home to more than 2,000 animals and accompanying botanical gardens. The Zoo opened in April 1974 and is one of South Carolina’s leading destination attractions, drawing one million visitors annually.

Except for the image of the child hand-feeding lettuce to the giraffe, the remaining images use the 135L, both with and without the Extender EF 1.4x III. EXIF data is available from the Flickr host site by clicking the URL titles.

Thanks Barbie! These images are from my first and only visit. It's been a while since I've been to a zoo like Riverbank with close access to large animals like the giraffe feeding and the Galapagos tortoises.

Thank you Karin! I've found zoos to be a useful location to put theory into practice.

Beautiful photos. Looks like a very wonderful place to visit. I like the photo of the little girl feeding the giraffe. I have been to an 'open' wild life preserve where the different animals are in very large areas with fences around them. These enclosures are multi acres in size. You go through the whole preserve in their vehicles with a guide. I had the privileged of feeding a giraffe there. Wonderful fun.
