Day # 5 - Date : Wednesday, October 18, 2017
Surprise, surprise. Thought all these birds had left for sourthern climates as I had not seen one in the past week or so. But out of the spruce trees this solitary fella popped today. Actually I should not be totally surprised as I had one stay all winter last year, all through 20 below celcius and a metre and a half of snow. Took a bit of babying to get him through the toughest nites (special covered feeder and a water heater to keep his drinking fountain unfrozen). But he endured and in the spring moved on to the breeding grounds north along with another bunch of his kind. Perhaps this is the same character, but I doubt it. This one appears to be a second year bird, much younger that the one that stayed the winter. I'm sure that by tomorrow he will be on his way. The last pic is of the gentleman that spent last winter with us. This pic was taken last September before the snow began flying.

Yes it is a "cool" bird now literally as the temps are a-dropping quickly up here. Thanks for looking davyboy.

Great shots of this sparrow. Small birds are very difficult to photograph, as they flit around so rapidly and seldom set still for a a good pose. Your prime lens does well, specially when the shooter has the settings right on!!
