GoPro Question

Although I like these little cameras, controlling them has always been a challenge for me. There are basically two buttons, and little icons in that little screen. Hit the wrong button at the wrong time will send everything back to the beginning.

I know these cameras can do time lapse, but is there a way to have one take a shot every five minutes, or so? I know the standard time lapse choices run to 60 seconds, but how about minutes apart? My newest is the GoPro Hero 3.

Any comments on the 5 or 6? They look really nice, and the touch screen appeals to me.

I purchase the HeroPro 6 a couple of weeks ago.

The only trouble I had is that it was set for German (not sure why). I had on heck of the time setting it up back to English then it was smooth sailing.

Hero6 uses a touch screen setup a large shooting button on top plus one on/of button. The screen menus are similar than in a camera. To go faster when setting up you do need a reference first then after a few time going thought the menu it easy.

My observation. The camera runs hot. I mean not warm, hot. The battery does not last long (less than 2 hours) so if you use it in a car (as I intent to, it needs to be connect to the USB port).

The primitive attachment delivers with the camera are basically useless so you must purchase these accessories on the side. These are not expensive and I do not understand why the company does not offer them as part of the sales price.

The raw file is not proprietary as far as I can tell, ACDSee opened them and so did ACR. In low light as a still camera the noise is bad, REALLY bad.

You must have your own video software as nothing is delivered by the company but that is easily solved.

Thank you!

I just spent a long time setting up an older Hero2. I has a tiny LCD and symbols that are not self-explanatory.

I have a GoPro hero 4 session. It has a tiny screen that only shows functions. I control it with an app on my android phone.

I just ordered one of them from B&H for my son for Christmas. He shoots a lot of video, and that would be something different. I understand it's basically one button start and stop. I like the idea of a decent touch screen on the Hero5. I have an early GoPro, and setting that is horrible.

I ordered the Hero5. For my purposes, I'd rather save $100 over the cost of the Hero6. Thanks for your input.
