The city is putting on a great Halloween event in the park with people who will be dressed up along with other events including "Halloween Tours".(I'm not sure what that is but I'm very excited to be going on one)

I may not be able to set up a tripod since there will be so many people there. Is there a chance I can take pictures handheld with my Sony A300 and what settings should I use? If I have to use a tripod what settings would work best when it's dark? I"ll have the lighting they put up as well as natural light if it's not cloudy. This picture is one example of the Halloween night festivities..

I use a speedlight on Halloween. People are in motion all the time so natural light will require a high ISO setting or just use a flash.

Halloween should be a good opportunity to use flash and drag the shutter (use longer shutter speeds) so you get blurred ambient light and light trails from lights in the background, while subjects in the foreground will be sharp from the flash.

So this is not a social chit chat type of forum? Did your post make you feel better?

That's one person's advice. Maybe the OP would like more than one viewpoint to consider.

It's much more fun to ask the question on UHH. A review of this forum will reveal that a good percentage of interesting questions devolve into an argument of some kind or other. And some of them get quite angry and insulting, baring old grudges and curmudgeony nastiness. It often starts with someone gruffly announcing that the answer is on Google, to which another member responds with a remark like "there you nasty old thing, do you feel better now?" And from there on it can get quite entertaining.

I would venture to say that the answer to ANY question asked here could be found online via Google. Does that mean that no one should ever ask a question here ?

Did I say that? Did I imply that? The OP asked a question, I answered it. If you don't have anything positive to say, BUTT OUT.

I think the reaction was because you SHOUTED to the OP that it "took 3 WHOLE SECONDS TO FIND ON GOOGLE" instead of something unjudgemental like, "Google gave me this:".

Remember you can recover from a slip of the foot but not from a slip of the tongue.

Jeez, if I wanted this kind of animosity and snarkiness, I probably should just go and post a provocative political statement on Facebook and ask for opinions! But then, someone would tell me I could have found it on Google! Peace, my brothers and sisters - this is photography - fun, creative, satisfying, passionate, fulfilling, and joyful - remember?
