Don't worry about it. KEH is a good company. I sent my Nikon in for a recall. Two days after I got it back, I got a letter saying they had received it. I guess the clerical dept can't keep up with the service dept. : )

Ha! Ha! 😃

They can get backlogged because they seem to be very thorough. You would want this when you are buying from them, so you have to accept time it takes when you are selling to them. A few years ago on a business trip to Atlanta,I dropped in on them and was impressed with their organization and dedication.

I just had my experience with KEH and it went like this: I went to their website and they have listed all of the equipment I want to sell to them. The listing consists of grades and a range of price for each item. I completed the form and listed my equipment as I thought as appropriate in terms of condition. I also agreed to accept the lower range of price if they determined the condition was not as good as I thought. The long and short of the excersise is they came in $400 lower than the lowest (pre inspection) prices and I asked them to return my equipment. I am very dissatisfied with them and would not recommend this company to anyone.

Thankfully for their customers, KEH sells equipment widely acknowledged as conservatively rated.

You've said it exactly: I know they must received hundreds of items weekly, if not daily. Sometimes, it can take a while ...

I think there may be a bigger problem. A company like FedX and UPS handle hundreds of thousands of packages a day.

Not sure what you're getting at ... FedEx alone employs around 400,000. As I understand the typical role of a package delivery service, none of those 400,000 employees is involved in: opening packages, visually inspecting the contents, testing the contents on applicable equipment, completing assessment documentation, contacting the sellers with assessments, issuing payments or returning the equipment (a whole nother set of steps ...), releasing the accepted equipment into the for-sale inventory, etc etc ... As mentioned by another post, these very same employees may actually be out on the road gathering equipment rather than at the home office receiving packages.

But, maybe you know something else about the matter?

Don't quite understand what you are trying to say. Do all observations have this effect on you??

I sold to them at an event at a local camera shop. They were professional & fair in what they paid. My option was to get an immediate check or a credit +15% at the shop it was held at. I took the check & ran with it. Bought a strobe set from B&H.

My previous experiences with KEH had been in purchasing used lenses and I was happy with the process; went quickly and well.
I had a lens that I no longer needed nor could use since the mount would not fit my current cameras. I is relatively new.
Got what I thought was an okay quote from them sight unseen, printed the FedEX label and sent it it. FedEx tracking indicated they received it the next day. That was two weeks ago.
Last week I received an email, about a week after they received it, indicating they would have their tech review it.
Then, surprisingly, got the same email three days later.
Have not heard anything sense.

Is this common? I know they must received hundreds of items weekly, if not daily.

I bought two Panasonic Micro 4/3 lenses from them. Both are flawless. Painless transactions.

I tried to buy a Nikon F lens mount to Micro 4/3 mount adapter. They sent me a 4/3 format adapter (NOT MICRO). Someone didn't read the box. It was in a KEH ziplock bag labeled Nikon F lens mount to Micro 4/3 mount adapter... So, I called them and they immediately refunded my money. They did not want the adapter back... Anybody need a Nikon F lens to 4/3 camera mount adapter?

I haven't tried to sell anything to KEH. They aren't known for paying a lot for used gear. Individuals will pay more, but less than they would at KEH, B&H, Adorama... People sell to KEH for convenience.

I would guess this time of year, a lot of people are selling off excess or unused gear to support new purchases for themselves and others in the coming holiday season. Delays can be expected eveeywhere, I think. JEH has an excellent reputation. I got a very good used Nikon les from the once. Quite satisfied with them.

I have been very happy with them. I sold all of my Nikon gear to them years ago and they paid me a fair price for it. I sent three Fujifilm lenses to them a few weeks ago, and when they paid me they gave me an additional $50 for the condition they were in. Great company.

I have never had an issue with KEH. A few years ago sold off some Nikon gear through them. The price was OK with me, done deal. Have purchased lenses from them, recently a Canon L glass lens, listed as ex. Lens was like new when I received it and the price was fair, delivery was timely.

I've always been pleased with KEH and would deal with them again. Best of luck.

I don't understand why you not recommending KEH. You wanted to sell them your used gear. They offered you a price that was not enough for you, and you asked them to return your stuff. I assume that KEH returned the gear. So whats your problem? It seems to me that KEH did things in a proper businesslike fashion. They are in business to make a profit. It was their decision that they could not make a profit and meet your price. Sometimes thats how things go.
